PPM makes Community Light Rail a reality - the benefits of tram-style operation are brought to local railways and the potential for tramway extensions into town centres is opened up.

In other situations, carriages that have been displaced from main line service - and might otherwise go for scrap - can have a second lease of life as branch line trains powered by PPM technology: the power cars at either end also provide easily accessible spaces for passengers, cycles or luggage.
